The 8 Best Pet-Friendly CNY Destinations 2024

Lunar New Year is the most traditional and ceremonial festival. Just like us, our pets can join in the festivities, enjoy a feast, wear new clothes, and even play with lucky money. Various pet-friendly malls have come up with creative ideas and set up hotspots for taking memorable photos during the New Year. Let's take our cats and dogs out for some good luck during the holiday and immerse ourselves in the festive atmosphere!

HK Island

1. Lee Tung Avenue

When it comes to the grandeur of New Year decorations, few can rival the splendor of Lee Tung Avenue in Wan Chai. Spanning a remarkable 200 meters, this verdant thoroughfare is adorned with a resplendent display of 800 crimson lanterns, while shimmering golden fish lanterns symbolizing good fortune gracefully weave through the air. At the central courtyard, a magnificent 8-meter-long dragon installation, aglow with radiant hues, captivates onlookers. On designated days, traditional lion dance performances further enhance the vibrant atmosphere. As the clock strikes 5 o'clock every afternoon, the lantern sea illuminates, immersing visitors in a jubilant ambiance that transcends both day and night.

2. Pacific Place

The recent Christmas decorations at Pacific Place in Admiralty garnered high praise, and now, they are poised to surpass expectations once more for the upcoming Lunar New Year. Embracing the theme of traditional garden architecture, the plaza has once again transformed into a breathtaking destination for photo enthusiasts. Renowned local floral artist Karen Leung has been invited to create a floral masterpiece, weaving together over ten thousand blossoms to form a towering 3.5-meter-high peach blossom tree. The pavilions and pavilions adorned in peachy hues are embellished with intricate dragon motifs and scale-like textures, skillfully incorporating the interplay of perspective and light to create a visual spectacle brimming with meticulous details. If you plan to bring your pets along for the visit, please take note that pets are not allowed on the floor. If you need to rent a pet stroller, you can visit the service desk on the L1 or L2 floor of the mall. Each pet stroller requires a HK$500 deposit.

3. Times Square Open Piazza

Times Square in Causeway Bay may not be recognized as a pet-friendly mall; however, its open-air photo spots are located in public areas, attracting numerous pet owners who bring their beloved cats and dogs for memorable snapshots. This year, the theme of the decorations is "Blossoming Spring," a collaboration with the acclaimed award-winning songstress and my personal favorite female singer, Panther Chan, who is also a master of textiles. Together, they have created a magnificent 9-meter-long tunnel adorned with blooming spring flowers, a mesmerizing pathway showcasing a myriad of treasures, and a towering floral drum. The enlarged woven floral patterns, coupled with neon light embellishments, exude a captivating luminosity and playful charm. There are also many pet-friendly restaurants and places to visit in the Causeway Bay area. You can use the PET-A-HOOD mobile application's "Search Nearby" feature to bring your cats and dogs along for some photo-taking and check-ins, and even plan your next itinerary!

5. New Town Plaza

The Lunar New Year serves as the perfect occasion to immerse oneself in the rich tapestry of traditional culture. This year, New Town Plaza in Sha Tin has chosen the theme of intricate folk art knotting, collaborating with the talented local knotting artist, Zoe Siu, to present six delightful photo spots that embody the essence of this ancient craft. Under the arch of a pink concentric knot, colossal flowers bloom in abundance, while a pink vase brims with embroidered hydrangeas. Soft woven chairs enveloped in a profusion of blossoms invite visitors to take a seat, and adorable, nimble-woven golden fish add a touch of charm. A wishing tree adorned with auspicious symbols and flowers, as well as a floral sea of hydrangeas, further enrich the scene. The mall also has a Pets Park where your furry friends can run and play, and some pet-friendly restaurants and pet supply stores too.
