Lantau Island is the largest island in Hong Kong, and since the government launched the Driving on Lantau Island Scheme, there are many new pet-friendly spots that you can't get enough of on a one-day self-drive tour. If you want to take your pet to Lantau Island, PET-A-HOOD will share with you how to apply for a permit and the must-visit pet-friendly places on Lantau Island:
Driving on Lantau Island Scheme
Roads in South Lantau were closed and drivers were required to have a permit to drive there. The Driving on Lantau Island Scheme allows the public to visit Ngong Ping, Tai O, Cheung Sha and Mui Wo from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) via closed roads with a permit.
Eligibility*
- Only private cars are eligible for application
- The private car must be issued with a valid vehicle licence on the day of entering South Lantau.
- Each private car can only be used for the Scheme once each month.
Application Procedures*

Submit ballot application on the 1st day of each month (first round) and on the 8th day of each month (second round) via the Scheme website
- Pay the permit fee HK$75 within the specified period after successful application.
- If there is still quota left after the second round of balloting, you can apply for the remaining quota on a first-come-first-served basis.

1. Pause Cafe

When you think of Tai O, do you think of the blue bridge? NAK Kafe is just located right next to the famous Tai O Chung Pedestrian Bridge! Pet owners and pets who like peace and quiet can sit on the terrace of the restaurant and watch people coming and going on the bridge. On a good day, you can also watch the sunset while enjoying a cup of coffee! 1. Discover Day
